Happy Halloween, Everyone!

I’ve been hearing about a couple of great ideas for this fun day! Last year, one of my amazing patients shared with me the Teal Pumpkin Project, because we’re both passionate about making families lives as fun and simple as possible. Because there are so many kiddos with severe food allergies now (more than ever before), this phenomenal group started a project to help include all kiddos in the festivity of Trick-or-Treating.

“Putting a teal pumpkin on your doorstep means you have non-food treats available, such as glow sticks or small toys. This simple act promotes inclusion for trick-or-treaters with food allergies or other conditions.”

Another idea I’ve heard about through a couple kids in the office is the “Switch Witch.” Apparently, when all the trick-or-treating is done, the kid’s collect their candy and leave it in a basket for the Switch Witch to come and switch the candy for a game, book, movie, or toy, much like the Tooth Fairy. Whoever came up with this…is brilliant! We all know kids get enough sugar throughout the day, without the added bonus of Halloween candy. That extra sugar shows up to us (as chiropractors) as a stressed nerve system. If your child’s nerve system is already in fight or flight mode, that extra sugar feeds that response, helping keep them locked in it. If you want to dive into the stress response kid’s are locked into these days, check out our Perfect Storm workshop coming up on November 6th.

Let’s help our kids out! Who’s going to switch with the Switch Witch?

Have a safe, fun Halloween FFCWC families!
